Kamačnik Canyon
The Kamačnik canyon follows a cold mountain stream through carved rock near Vrbovsko. A wooden walkway and footbridges trace the water, and the trail stays shaded and cool on hot days. The route runs there and back, so families can turn around whenever younger walkers tire.
Kupa River
The Kupa river rises in Gorski kotar and runs clear and green through quiet valleys. Its upper stretch draws anglers, swimmers and paddlers who want water without crowds. The source area, Izvor Kupe, is a protected pool of striking blue-green colour.

Late spring through early autumn is the season for swimming and canyon walks. Warm days, cold water and long light make June to September the natural window for Lokvarsko jezero and the Kupa.
The Kamačnik canyon rewards a visit almost year-round. Its shaded walkway cools summer heat and turns gold in autumn, though winter ice can close the trail.
